Chiefs set to use undrafted rookie at LT as Simmons ruled out
Description: Chiefs set to use undrafted rookie at LT as Simmons ruled out
Chiefs set to use undrafted rookie at LT as Simmons ruled out. Chiefs left tackle Josh Simmons has been ruled out for Monday’s season‑opening matchup against the Denver Broncos. With Simmons unavailable, Kansas City is expected to start undrafted rookie Kahlil Benson at left tackle, giving the 22‑year‑old his first NFL snap. The move matters because the left side of the offensive line is crucial to protecting returning quarterback Patrick Mahomes. If Benson can hold his own against a strong Broncos front, it could solidify the Chiefs’ depth at tackle and keep Mahomes upright in a game that sets the tone for the season.
