2026-27 SMU Women's Basketball Preview
Description: ACC Digital Network host and former National Champion Kelley Deyo sat down with SMU head coach Adia Barnes and guards Zahra King and Theresa Hagans Jr. to discuss their offseason on and off the court, along with handling internal and external expectations for a program looking to reach the ACC and NCAA Tournaments. The Mustangs enter the 2026-27 season with a young roster built for long-term success, emphasizing continuity and multi-year eligibility. King and Hagans Jr. headline a dynamic backcourt expected to push the tempo offensively and set the tone with aggressive perimeter defense. SMU also welcomes two highly touted four-star freshman guards in Shania James and Zoe Osby, who headline Barnes’ first true recruiting class with the Mustangs. The schedule features a marquee SEC/ACC Challenge matchup against Georgia at home on December 2, along with six games at Moody Coliseum against teams that reached last season’s NCAA Tournament as part of SMU’s 18-game ACC slate. Hear how Barnes and the Mustangs are building toward the future while setting their sights on competing in the ACC and earning a spot in the NCAA Tournament.SUBSCRIBE: http://bit.ly/Oqg3iE
