Savage Hunters — The Most Dangerous Movie In The DCU Just Got Its Name
Description: #SavageHunters #Deathstroke #Bane
Two of Batman’s deadliest enemies are getting their own movie. And it just got a name.
Deadline has reported that DC Studios’ long-rumored Deathstroke and Bane team-up movie now has a working title. The film is called Savage Hunters. The title appeared on an internal development list from the newly merged Skydance and Warner Bros. company, listed as Savage Hunters aka Deathstroke and Bane Movie DC and marked as being in early development. Scooper MyTimeToShineHello and DanielRPK both confirmed the title on social media. DC Studios has not publicly announced Savage Hunters as the official name so it remains a reported working title for now but its presence on the active Skydance development slate confirms the project is moving forward.
This follows the exact same strategy DC Studios used with Clayface which releases October 23. Take a Batman villain, give them a standalone movie, and let the character carry the film without Batman appearing. Deathstroke is Slade Wilson, widely regarded as the deadliest mercenary and assassin in the entire DC Universe. He is a super-soldier with enhanced strength, speed, reflexes, and a healing factor who has beaten Batman in hand-to-hand combat on multiple occasions. Bane is the man who broke Batman’s back in the legendary Knightfall storyline. He is a genius-level tactician and strategist who enhances his already formidable physical abilities with the super-steroid Venom and once conquered the entire city of Gotham singlehandedly. Putting these two characters together in one film is either the most brilliant or the most dangerous creative decision DC Studios has made. The title Savage Hunters suggests this may not be a villain versus villain story but rather a film following both characters as mercenaries on a shared mission, hunting a common target or possibly being hunted themselves. In May 2026 Deadline reported that Greg Mottola who directed episodes of Peacemaker Season 2 was the frontrunner to direct Savage Hunters though his involvement remains unconfirmed. No cast has been announced for either role. Joe Manganiello previously played Deathstroke in the DCEU Justice League but there is no indication he is attached to this new DCU version. DC Studios has been quietly developing this project for over two years and now that the Skydance Warner Bros. merger is officially complete as of October 7 the film sits on the active development slate alongside other DC projects. In this video we break down the Savage Hunters title reveal, what the name tells us about the plot, both characters’ histories and abilities, the Greg Mottola directing rumors, how this fits into DC’s expanding villain movie strategy alongside Clayface and The Penguin, and what this means for the future of the DCU.
