সন্ত্রাস বিরোধী আইন এবং সাইবার নিরাপত্তা আইনে অবসরপ্রাপ্ত লেফট্যানেন্ট কাজী গুলশান আরা এবং তার সাথে সংশ্লিষ্টতার অভিযোগে অবসরপ্রাপ্ত লেফটেনেন্ট কর্ণেল দেবাশীষ কুমার বড়ুয়াকে গ্রেফতার করেছে মহানগর গোয়েন্দা পুলিশ। রোববার রাতে তাদের গ্রেফতার করা হয়। ঢাকা মহানগর গোয়েন্দা পুলিশ প্রধান শফিকুল ইসলাম জানান, দেশে অস্থিতিশীল পরিস্থিতি তৈরি করার ষড়যন্ত্রে কার্যক্রম নিষিদ্ধ আওয়ামী লীগের সাথে তাদের যোগশাজসের তথ্য পেয়েছে পুলিশ। সামাজিক যোগাযোগমাধ্যম ব্যবহার করে রাষ্ট্রবিরোধী অপপ্রচার চালানো এবং সাইবার অপরাধের মাধ্যমে জননিরাপত্তা বিঘ্নিত করার সুনির্দিষ্ট তথ্যের ভিত্তিতেই এই অভিযান চালানো হয়। দুই সাবেক সেনা কর্মকর্তার বিরুদ্ধে সন্ত্রাসবিরোধী ও সাইবার সুরক্ষা আইনে আলাদা মামলা দায়ের করা হবে বলে জানিয়েছেন ডিসি মিডিয়া আকতার হোসেন।
The Metropolitan Detective Police have arrested retired Lieutenant Kazi Gulshan Ara and retired Lieutenant Colonel Debashish Kumar Barua—the latter on charges of association with the former—under the Anti-Terrorism Act and the Cyber Security Act. They were arrested on Sunday night. Shafiqul Islam, chief of the Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Police, stated that law enforcement obtained information regarding their collusion with the banned Awami League in a conspiracy to destabilize the country. The operation was conducted based on specific intelligence indicating that they were spreading anti-state propaganda via social media and disrupting public safety through cybercrimes. Deputy Commissioner (Media) Akter Hossain stated that separate cases would be filed against the two former army officers under the Anti-Terrorism Act and the Cyber Security Act.
