আজ কোম্পানিটির সঙ্গে বন্দরের ১৫ বছরের কনসেশন চুক্তি স্বাক্ষরিক হতে যাচ্ছে। বিকেলে, ঢাকার বিনিয়োগ বোর্ড মিলনায়তনে চুক্তি স্বাক্ষর অনুষ্ঠানে নৌ-পরিবহনমন্ত্রী শেখ রবিউল আলম, বিনিয়োগ বোর্ডের নির্বাহী চেয়ারম্যান আশিক চৌধুরী ও ডিপি ওয়ার্ল্ড পরিচালনা পর্ষদ চেয়ারম্যান ঈসা কাজিমের উপস্থিত থাকার কথা রয়েছে। চট্টগ্রাম বন্দরের অন্যতম লাভজনক এবং পরিপূর্ণ আধুনিক টার্মিনাল এনসিটি বিদেশিদের হাতে তুলে দেয়ার বিরুদ্ধে দীর্ঘদিন ধরে আন্দোলন করে আসছে শ্রমিক-কর্মচারীসহ বিভিন্ন সংগঠন। তবে বিদেশি অপারেটর এলে সক্ষমতা বাড়বে বলে দাবি বন্দর কর্তৃপক্ষের।
A 15-year concession agreement between the port and the company is set to be signed today. Various organizations, including worker unions, have long been protesting the handover of the New Mooring Container Terminal (NCT)—one of the Chittagong Port's most profitable and fully modernized terminals—to foreign entities. However, the port authorities maintain that the arrival of a foreign operator will enhance operational capacity.
