“Our Own Police Force Are Working Against Us” | Maria Bowtell
Description: In this UKLIVE interview, Maria Botel of Restore Britain reacts to the scenes in Gosport, where migrant arrivals, police restrictions and protests have triggered a fierce debate over immigration, policing and the rights of local residents.
Maria argues that people in Gosport were effectively prevented from moving freely around their own town while emergency services and police were deployed around migrant arrivals. She says the episode raises serious questions about whose interests the authorities are protecting, and why police appeared to be facing protesters rather than those arriving illegally.
The discussion also turns to Britain’s wider illegal migration crisis, public anger over migrant hotels, pressure on local services and growing tensions in towns across the country. Maria sets out Restore Britain’s proposed approach, including its plans for mass deportations and a tougher immigration system.
Later, the conversation moves to the political battle on the right. Could Restore Britain and Reform UK eventually work together? Maria says the door remains open to discussions, arguing that political egos may need to be put aside ahead of the next general election.
Watch the full interview and tell us what you think. Was the police response in Gosport justified? Are local communities being listened to? And does Britain need a radically different approach to illegal migration?
