Why Turkey Hunting is Harder than you Think

Description: If you've encountered wild turkeys before, chances are it's in a suburban or urban setting where they block traffic, tear up cemeteries and golf courses, or try to fight their own reflection in windows. My whole life that was my entire impression of turkeys - just stupid birds that get in the way. Never in my entire life would I think it would be difficult to hunt one...and then I started hunting them.

Turkeys have some of the best eyesight of any wild game, with the ability to see 3x better than a human being with 20-20 vision. Their hearing is just as good, with the ability to pinpoint sounds from 500 yards away. As a result hunting them is incredibly difficult and requires a good plan. Our objective was difficult: to shoot an adult Tom turkey on pressured public land.
