Why are people literally ripping the microphones out of their brand-new LG TVs?

Description: Growing privacy concerns surrounding smart TV surveillance have led some users to take extreme hardware modifications into their own hands.

A recent investigation by Gamers Nexus revealed that up to 200 million LG Smart TV models could be collecting local network data, logging voice commands, and capturing audio while in standby mode. Following the report, one YouTuber went as far as dismantling a brand-new LG OLED display to physically remove its internal microphones.

In response, LG denied recording ambient conversations, stating that voice processing occurs strictly when activated by the user and that Automatic Content Recognition features operate on an opt-in basis.
