Power Banks Are HUGE DANGER To World! India’s Indigo Case #shorts
Description: An IndiGo flight travelling from Delhi to Chennai was diverted to Hyderabad on October 11 after a passenger’s power bank reportedly caught fire inside the cabin. Flight 6E 6115 landed safely at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, and all passengers and crew were reported safe.
IndiGo said smoke had been detected from a passenger’s personal electronic device. According to the airline, cabin crew responded promptly and brought the situation under control before the pilots diverted the aircraft in accordance with safety procedures. An alternative aircraft was arranged to take passengers onward to Chennai.
Videos circulating online showed flames near an overhead baggage compartment and passengers attempting to contain the fire. Reports identified the device as a power bank, while the airline’s statement described it more broadly as a personal electronic device. Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.
The incident has renewed attention to rules governing portable batteries on Indian flights. IndiGo’s published advisory states that power banks and spare lithium batteries must travel in hand baggage and remain within the passenger’s personal reach. They must not be placed in checked luggage or overhead compartments. Using or charging power banks during the flight is also prohibited.
For passengers, the distinction is important: permission to carry a power bank does not mean permission to use it onboard or store it anywhere in the cabin.
The available reports do not establish the device’s brand or the precise cause of its failure. The investigation will need to determine what triggered the fire.
