Cheeky Eagles Steals Picnic
Description: What began as a peaceful family picnic in Kuta Lombok turned into an unforgettable wildlife encounter when a bold sea eagle strutted over and started eating the food — sending a little girl running away in tears.
The family had just arrived from Bali and was visiting Bukit Merese, famous for its sunsets and dramatic coastline. Several sea eagles were being flown by handlers, gliding overhead and landing on people’s arms for photos. But one bird decided it was dinner time.
Jumping from its handler’s arm, the eagle marched straight towards a family’s picnic, screeching as it approached. The young girl panicked and fled, while the eagle confidently tucked into the meal. The handler eventually scooped the bird up, pulled the food from its beak, and placed it back on the plate before calmly walking away.
The filmer said the scene was “breathtaking, hilarious and impossible to stage”, calling the eagle “full of spunk”.
