From Fallout Shelter Open Mic to The Voice. #LukeCurran #TheVoice
Description: May 2024. Open mic night at the Fallout Shelter. A reserved guy none of us had met got up on stage, and by the end of his first song the whole room knew something special was happening. By the time he stepped off, the staff was trading glances and Bill was already walking over to book him for a "real show."
Music was always a passion for Luke, but he hadn't played out in years. He'd been picking and singing at home when he found the time, mostly for himself. Something pulled him to the local open mic that night, and we're guessing his partner Allison had a lot to do with that, encouraging him every step of the way.
Since then, his rise in the Boston music scene has been wild. A few months after that debut, he opened for Sarah Levecque here and had the whole room's jaws on the floor. He was booked for his own headlining show right after, and he's now sold out all 3 full band shows he's played at the Shelter. His band is Fallout Shelter family too, with our live stream director Connor on guitar and our bartender Zak on drums. Connor also engineered/produced Luke's debut EP Hymns, with more new music on the way soon.
The first 15 seconds of this reel is that first open mic night. The second 15 is Luke on The Voice Monday night. Same guy. We all felt it that night, and we couldn't be prouder.
