Description: Jamaica's public health system is getting a staffing boost, with the return of 157 Cuban doctors, nurses and other medical professionals.

The Health Ministry says the workers have been deployed across the island, with the largest group of 69 assigned to the South East Regional Health Authority.

The new arrivals bring the total number of Cuban medical professionals in Jamaica to 200.

Health Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton says the additional personnel will help address staffing needs, even as the Government continues efforts to train, recruit and retain local healthcare workers.
