The Exorcist: Martyrs (2027) - Scarlett Johansson & Mike Flanagan | Faith Faces Pure Evil
Description: #TheExorcistMartyrs #ScarlettJohansson #MikeFlanagan
Universal Pictures has scheduled The Exorcist: Martyrs for a March 12, 2027 theatrical release, with the first trailer set to debut on October 10, 2026. The film is the seventh entry in The Exorcist franchise and represents a complete creative reset following the critical and commercial disappointment of The Exorcist: Believer in 2023.
Mike Flanagan, known for The Haunting of Hill House and Doctor Sleep, writes and directs an all-new story set within The Exorcist universe. Scarlett Johansson stars as Detective Julie Miller, a single mother and NYPD homicide detective who, thirteen years after taking down a notorious satanic serial killer, investigates a new series of murders connected to her past while her twelve-year-old son becomes the target of a terrifying demonic force. The ensemble includes Chiwetel Ejiofor as Father William, a prison chaplain suffering a crisis of faith; Laurence Fishburne as a priest familiar with ancient rituals; Diane Lane as Julie's mother; John Leguizamo as the satanic serial killer Father Sunday; and Sasha Calle as Detective Gina Restrepo, Julie's partner. The cast also features numerous Flanagan regulars including Carla Gugino, Kate Siegel, Rahul Kohli, Hamish Linklater, Carl Lumbly, and John Gallagher Jr. Principal photography took place in New York City from March 13 to June 9, 2026, and the film is now in post-production.
