How Inclusive Production is Transforming the Screen Industries | RTS Technology Centre
Description: In Accessible by Design - How Inclusive Production is Transforming the Screen Industries, hosted by broadcaster and journalist Jordan Jarrett-Bryan, speakers discussed how accessible design and inclusive production can help remove barriers for disabled professionals working across the screen industries.
Chris Lynch, Founder and Head of Inclusive Production at Diverse Made Media, introduced Caerus, the world’s first wheelchair-based camera system, designed to empower disabled creatives in production roles.
Drawing from his experience as a cinematographer, Chris shared how many traditional production tools and workflows were designed for standing operators, which have limited opportunities for disabled professionals.
The panel also included Molly Reed, Production Executive at IMG Golf, who emphasised the importance of considering accessibility in the earliest stages of production planning. Ally Castle MBE, a creative strategist and disability consultant, spoke about the progress made in recent years and the need for senior leaders to create more inclusive working environments as a standard.
The conversation highlighted the real accessibility challenges faced by disabled creatives, from hiring practices to on-set technology, and offered practical solutions for creating truly inclusive production pipelines.
