Child Rescues a Drowning Baby Mouse
Description: A two‑year‑old girl from Worcester, Massachusetts, has gone viral after helping her father rescue a baby mouse that had fallen into their swimming pool during a scorching summer morning.
The filmer said the moment unfolded on 2 July 2026, the hottest day of the year, with temperatures already above 95°F by 11 a.m. He had been sitting under an umbrella watching his children swim when his five‑year‑old son Fox ran over shouting, “Dad, there’s a rat in the pool!” Expecting a much larger animal, he went to look and instead found a tiny baby mouse clinging to the edge of the filter.
His two‑year‑old daughter Raven immediately became concerned and insisted on helping. He grabbed the pool skimmer and let her hold it out so the soaked mouse could climb on. As he lifted it from the water, Raven stood up in excitement and accidentally bumped the mouse off the net, sending it back into the pool — prompting a second rescue attempt.
Once safely out, the family showed the mouse to Mum before releasing it in a shady spot in the garden. When he checked back 20 minutes later, the mouse scurried away, suggesting it had recovered from the ordeal.
