The Unbelievable Bliss Underneath Everything - Alan Watts
Description: This is an audio section from an original Alan Watts Lecture - Essential Lectures - Philosophy and Society - recorded between 1958 - 1973.
Alan Wilson Watts (6 January 1915 – 16 November 1973) was a well-known British philosopher, writer and speaker, best known for his interpretation of Eastern philosophy for Western audiences. He left behind more than 25 books and an audio library of nearly 400 talks, which are still in great demand.
In this episode, Alan Watts poses the question, "Has civilization been a mistake?" and he aims to address this idea through several layers of philosophy and perspective. Watts makes the case that it might be far better if we stopped worrying and juts left everything alone. Perhaps the animals are wiser than we, because they live a settled existence.
