Mike Flanagan's Carrie Just Dropped — The Same Man Who Wrote Clayface
Description: #Carrie #MikeFlanagan #StephenKing
The man who wrote Clayface just dropped a Stephen King reimagining. And Bryan Fuller says it is the best thing he has ever made.
Mike Flanagan's Carrie premiered today October 7, 2026 on Amazon Prime Video with all eight episodes available to binge immediately. This is the same Mike Flanagan who created The Haunting of Hill House, The Haunting of Bly Manor, Midnight Mass, The Midnight Club, The Fall of the House of Usher, and directed Doctor Sleep. And this is the same Mike Flanagan who wrote the screenplay for Clayface, the DCU body horror film hitting theaters on October 23. That means one man is delivering two major horror projects in the same month — Carrie on October 7 and Clayface on October 23. Flanagan's Carrie is a complete reimagining of Stephen King's 1974 debut novel set in the present day and expanded far beyond the original story.
Summer H. Howell stars as Carrie White after beating out nearly 1500 actresses in one of the largest casting searches in horror television history. Critics are calling her a revelation in the role. Samantha Sloyan plays Margaret White, Carrie's fanatically religious mother. Matthew Lillard plays the school principal. Amber Midthunder from Prey plays Miss Desjardin the compassionate gym teacher. Arthur Conti who also plays young Ebenezer in Johnny Depp's upcoming Christmas Carol plays Billy. Joel Oulette plays Tommy Ross, Siena Agudong plays Sue Snell, Alison Thornton plays the villainous Chris Hargensen, and Josie Totah plays Tina. Flanagan packed the series with his regular collaborators including Kate Siegel, Rahul Kohli, Katee Sackhoff, and Michael Trucco. Heather Graham also joins in an undisclosed role. Stephen King himself serves as executive producer giving the project his official blessing. Flanagan created, wrote, and served as showrunner on all eight episodes while directing four of them including the first two and final two. The biggest departure from every previous Carrie adaptation is the expansion of the story beyond Carrie White herself. This version connects Carrie to other young women around the world who share similar telekinetic abilities, turning a contained high school horror story into a much larger mythology with global implications. Reviews have been mostly positive with Variety calling it a superb reimagining of the classic horror tale and Roger Ebert describing it as visceral, searing, and provocative calling it the Carrie reboot we did not know we needed. Writer Bryan Fuller went even further calling it the best thing Mike Flanagan has done. In this video we break down everything about the Carrie series including the full cast, Flanagan's modern approach, the global expansion of the mythology, the critical reception, the Clayface connection, and why October 2026 belongs to Mike Flanagan.
