Beyond the Box | Anurag Bhandari | TEDxNMIMS Indore

Description: The speaker reflects on the importance of letting go of old patterns and constantly challenging the way we think. Drawing from his career and his journey in sustainability, he shares how embracing change, creating new possibilities, and looking at problems from different perspectives have shaped his approach. He encourages us to think beyond conventional boundaries, question what we already know, and never confine ourselves to a fixed idea of who we are or what we can create. In the spirit of “The Age of Unlearning,” his talk is a reminder that growth begins when we step outside the boxes we have created for ourselves.
Mr. Anurag Bhandari is a U.S.-trained designer and the founder of Ek Kalakaar, whose work challenges the conventional idea of beauty, luxury, and craftsmanship. With a distinctive creative vision, he transforms scrap metal, rusted steel, discarded wood, and other industrial waste into striking furniture and works of art. His approach to design brings together sustainability, functionality, and artistic expression, creating pieces that are not only visually distinctive but also meaningful. By reimagining discarded materials instead of relying solely on new ones, he offers a different perspective on what luxury can represent. His journey is a testament to the power of looking beyond conventional possibilities and finding value where others may see only waste. Through Ek Kalakaar, Mr. Bhandari gives overlooked materials a second life, transforming them into objects that are functional, enduring, and extraordinary. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx Close description
