Today I'm visiting one of my favorite summer festivals in Tokyo—the Asagaya Tanabata Festival! 🎋
Tanabata is traditionally celebrated in July, but Asagaya holds its festival later than most places, making it one of Tokyo's unique summer events.
What makes this festival so special are its incredible handmade decorations.
The shopping streets are filled with huge, colorful papier-mâché displays of anime characters, popular icons, and creative designs hanging from above.
Every year they're completely different, so there's always something new to discover!
Of course, it wouldn't be a Japanese festival without delicious food!
We'll be trying some festival snacks, exploring the decorations, and soaking up the fun atmosphere together.
After enjoying the festival, we'll continue our adventure by wandering through the nearby Koenji and Nakano areas, two neighborhoods full of unique shops, local culture, and hidden gems.
