India's 2036 Olympic Bid Draws Massive Racist Backlash | Vantage on Firstpost | 4K

Description: India wants to host the 2036 Olympics, but its ambition has already become the target of racist as well as derogatory memes and AI-generated images depicting filth, poverty and cultural stereotypes. In this video, Firstpost examines how online mockery of India's Olympic bid echoes decades-old portrayals of the country, including a controversial New York Times cartoon following India's successful Mars mission. The video looks at India's infrastructure growth and sporting ambitions, while acknowledging the challenges exposed by past events such as the 2010 Commonwealth Games. It also examines problems faced by Olympic hosts in Rio and Paris, and asks why India's ambitions should be judged through outdated stereotypes rather than the same standards applied to other countries. Hem Saroya tells you more.
