Description: #SonicTheHedgehog4 #JimCarrey #KeanuReeves
Paramount Pictures has officially locked Sonic the Hedgehog 4 for a March 19, 2027 theatrical release, continuing a video game adaptation franchise that has already surpassed $1 billion worldwide. The film represents a significant expansion of the ensemble, with Kristen Bell joining as Amy Rose and Jim Carrey returning as Dr. Robotnik despite his previous retirement from the role.
Director Jeff Fowler, who has helmed every Sonic film, wrapped principal photography in May 2026 at Shinfield Studios in Berkshire after a March start. Ben Schwartz returns as the voice of Sonic, with Keanu Reeves reprising Shadow and Idris Elba returning as Knuckles. The film draws elements from the 1993 video game Sonic CD, with Metal Sonic confirmed as the primary antagonist. New cast additions include Ben Kingsley, Nick Offerman, Matt Berry, and Richard Ayoade in undisclosed roles. An IMAX release is planned, and Paramount has already dated a Sonic Universe Event Film for December 2028. No specific plot details beyond the Sonic CD adaptation have been officially confirmed.
