What’s holding up Portland’s Moda Center renovation deal?
Description: Portland Mayor Keith Wilson says negotiations with the Trail Blazers on a Moda Center renovation deal are moving forward, but major sticking points between the two sides still remain.
“We cannot sign a blank check to anybody. My job is to protect Portlanders. My job is to work with our councilors to bring forward the best deal possible," said Wilson on Wednesday.
Wilson said Rip City Management's obligation to maintain Moda Center to a “first-class” standard, the rent payments the city wants from the team, and the labor requirements for the renovation are the three key points still driving the disagreement between the two sides.
