Today we're exploring an interesting side of Japanese cooking—Western-style food with a Japanese twist!

Japan has many dishes inspired by European and other Western cuisines that have changed over the years to become something uniquely Japanese. Today I'm going to make two of them!

First up is chicken doria! 🧀🍗
It's a warm and comforting rice gratin covered with creamy sauce and cheese, and it's become a classic Western-style dish in Japan.

And for dessert, I'm attempting homemade Baumkuchen! 🍰

Baumkuchen originally comes from Germany, but it's become incredibly popular in Japan and is now a familiar treat you'll find in shops and as a popular gift all across the country.

I've never made it myself before, so I'm excited to see how it turns out! 😅

We'll have a savory Japanese-style Western meal followed by something sweet, all while relaxing at home and chatting together.
