Tokyo Live πβοΈ Cooking with Japanese Summer Ingredients! It's CORN Day! π½
Description: Today I'm streaming indoors from Japan! π―π΅β¨
It's another VERY hot summer day outside today... π₯΅βοΈ
Luckily for me, today is a home stream, so we can stay cool indoors and do some cooking!
I was thinking about ingredients that remind me of summer in Japan, and I realized that corn is definitely one of them! π½
Sweet corn is in season during the Japanese summer, and you see it in all kinds of summer foodsβfrom grilled corn at festivals to simple seasonal dishes at home
So today, we're having a corn-themed cooking day!
First, I'm making corn potage! π½π₯£
It's a creamy, comforting soup that's extremely popular in Japan, and today I'm going to try making it myself using sweet corn.
I wanted to make a dessert, but I couldn't think of any Japanese desserts that use corn, so I decided to cook a Mexican dessert instead
I'm making Pan de Elote, a Mexican sweet corn cake! π½π°
I've never made it before, and I'm really curious to see how corn works in a sweet cake
So today we'll be using the same summer ingredient in two completely different ways, one Japanese-inspired savory dish and one Mexican sweet treat!
Grab something tasty, stay cool, and come enjoy another relaxing summer cooking day in Japan with me as I bring you...
A little piece of Japan every day! π―π΅β¨Β Close description
