‘Putin’s Gift to Himself’ Zelensky on Russian Strike That Killed 25, Injured 100

Description: Russia launched waves of missiles and drones at Ukraine on Wednesday, October 7, killing at least 25 people, including children, and damaging industrial facilities and energy infrastructure, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said.

The heaviest casualties were reported in Pryluky in the northern Chernihiv region, where a Russian missile destroyed a five-storey residential building, killing at least 19 people, including five children, according to Zelensky.

Zelensky said the attack coincided with Russian President Vladimir Putin’s birthday, calling the deaths ‘the kind of birthday present Putin gave himself’. He added that Russia fired 70 missiles overnight, including high-velocity ballistic missiles, along with dozens of Shahed attack drones.
