Girl math and the path to success | Janet Lam | TEDxTAFE Queensland

Description: What if the decisions that don't make sense on paper are the ones that make life worth living? Drawing inspiration from the viral concept of Girl Math, Janet Lam explores how we measure the value of our choices beyond numbers and expectations. From leaving a successful finance career to pursue an MBA abroad to navigating the challenges of entrepreneurship, Janet shares how trusting her own judgment helped her redefine success. Through three powerful lessons, defining your value, believing in your choices and daring to think differently, she challenges us to reconsider what truly matters. Because sometimes the best things in life aren't meant to be calculated. They're meant to be lived. Janet Lam is an entrepreneur, business strategist, and Forbes Business Council member with nearly 20 years of experience advising companies across North America and Asia. As Founder of Building Blocks Business Planning, she has guided hundreds of business owners through growth, setbacks, and reinvention.
With a background in mathematics and finance, Janet knows firsthand how high-performance careers can come at a cost to your health and wellbeing. She chose to stay in the industry and build a life where ambition and wellness coexist.
Recognized as one of the Top 100 People in Finance, she now helps others do the same. In her TEDx talk, "Girl Math and the Path to Health and Wellness," Janet reframes the way we think about irrational choices and what they reveal about the life we actually want to live. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx Close description
