This 1 of 1 Classic Body Swap Is Finally Coming Together! Running Gear Built and Sills Fully Welded!
Description: After months of cutting, welding, fabrication and structural work, we're reaching another huge milestone in this classic car body swap.
In this episode, we get the Subaru Impreza WRX running gear completely built up, install the Powerflex polyurethane bushes, fit the wheels and prepare the entire running gear assembly ready for installation onto the Rancho.
But that's not all.
We also finally finish the custom fabricated sill panels, fully welding them into the structure and permanently tying more of the Talbot Matra Rancho shell into the Subaru floor pan.
Seeing the wheels and running gear back together gives us one of the first proper looks at how this crazy Subaru-powered Talbot Matra Rancho is going to sit once it's finished.
We don't install the running gear just yet — that's coming in the next stage of the build — but everything is now getting prepared for that massive moment.
This project belongs to Jonny Smith from The Late Brake Show, and we're combining his classic Talbot Matra Rancho with a Subaru Impreza WRX chassis and running gear to create a completely unique one-off car.
We've already chopped the Subaru, rebuilt sections of the structure, fabricated the windscreen surround, installed a custom roll cage and started permanently joining the Rancho shell to the Subaru platform.
Now we're getting dangerously close to having something that actually resembles a complete car.
The running gear is ready. The sills are welded. The wheels are on.
And next… we finally get to put it all together.
