It's another cooler and overcast day outside today, and autumn is definitely starting to feel like it's here! 🍂☁️
But today we're staying cozy at home because I have a completely NEW cooking challenge to try...
We're making SONGPYEON! 🇰🇷🌕✨
Chuseok is coming up in Korea, so I wanted to try making one of the traditional foods associated with this important Korean holiday!
Songpyeon are small Korean rice cakes traditionally made and eaten around Chuseok. They're shaped by hand and filled with different ingredients, making them one of the foods most closely associated with the holiday.
And I've NEVER made them before!
I've been learning more about Korean language, food and culture recently, so I thought this would be a fun opportunity to experience another part of Korean tradition by actually trying to make it myself. 🇰🇷✨
Of course, making traditional food for the first time means there's plenty of opportunity for things to go wrong...
Will my songpyeon actually look like songpyeon?
Will I manage to shape them properly?
And most importantly...
Will they taste good?!
We'll find out together!
I'm really excited to try something completely new today and learn a little more about Chuseok and Korean food along the way.
