The Performance
This appearance is a masterclass in vocal control and emotional delivery, blending the deep storytelling of traditional country music with soaring, cinematic grandeur.
Raul Malo’s vocal work here is nothing short of transcendent. He approaches the song not just as a singer, but as a master interpreter of the lyric.
The instrumentation here is characteristically elegant and beautifully understated. The backing band provides a lush, gentle bed of acoustic guitar, subtle percussion, and weeping pedal steel, perfectly framing the arrangement. Every note is played with a deep reverence for the song, ensuring Malo's magnificent voice remains the undisputed focal point.

About the Song: "For The Good Times"
Written by Kris Kristofferson in 1968, "For The Good Times" is a devastatingly mature and tender plea for a peaceful parting at the end of a romantic relationship.
While Kristofferson recorded his own version, it was country legend Ray Price who turned the song into a massive, career-defining crossover smash in 1970. Over the decades, the song has become an absolute cornerstone of American music, covered by everyone from Al Green to Elvis Presley.
