It's another surprisingly cool summer day in Tokyo! ☀️
After very hot days last week, it's nice to get a little break. It should also be much less rainy than yesterday, so hopefully we'll have some great weather for exploring Tokyo!
We'll be starting today's adventure in Shinjuku, exploring the city before gradually making our way over towards Harajuku. 🚶♀️✨
And for lunch, I'm getting my favorite when I'm in Harajuku... Mexican food in Tokyo! 🌯🇲🇽
I'm planning to stop at Guzman y Gomez for lunch before we head towards today's BIG event.
And that event is...
YOSAKOI in Harajuku! 💃🇯🇵🎉
Today, Harajuku will be filled with colorful Yosakoi dance teams performing energetic choreographed dances through the streets!
I'm really excited to see all the different groups, costumes, music, and performances—and of course, to show all of you this exciting side of Japanese festival culture!
Yosakoi is very different from the traditional mikoshi festivals we've been seeing recently. It's loud, colorful, energetic, and every team brings its own personality and style to the performance! 💃✨
We'll explore around Harajuku, watch as many of the dance groups as we can, and see what else we can discover around the festival area.
So come spend another cool summer day filled with Japanese Yosakoi dancing! 🌯💃
