They did it! Six boys with Down syndrome served as altar boys at the Pope’s Mass in Paris.
Description: Six boys with Down syndrome experienced a historic moment during Pope Leo’s visit to France.
It all began in June, during an audience marking the centenary of Jérôme Lejeune. One of the boys gave the Pope a letter with a very special wish: to serve as an altar boy at the Mass he would celebrate in Paris.
In August, the answer arrived: yes.
They were among the 400 altar servers chosen to accompany the Holy Father at the Mass held at Place de la Concorde, representing the Jérôme Lejeune Foundation and its work in support of the dignity of every person.
Their presence was a beautiful reminder of the unique dignity of people with Down syndrome and of every human life, especially the most vulnerable.
