Beyond the Classroom - Learning for Life Creating Impact | Sandeep Bhamkar | TEDxKharadi
Description: For generations, education has prioritised the transfer of knowledge, while experience has often been postponed until after graduation. Yet the abilities most valued in life and work are judgment, collaboration, resilience, creativity and problem-solving; developed through engaging with real situations rather than studying them in isolation. This talk argues that experience should not be treated as the final stage of education but as one of its core methods. By bringing authentic challenges, responsibility and reflection into learning, education can prepare individuals not only for employment, but for life itself. Sandeep Bhamkar is a production designer, entrepreneur and education innovator whose career spans films, advertising and immersive visual storytelling. Having spent years working in fast-paced creative industries where learning happens through doing, he began questioning why formal education often separates knowledge from real-world experience. This led him to develop experiential learning initiatives that connect classrooms with industry, communities and live problem-solving. His work is driven by a simple belief: education should not merely prepare students for employment; it should prepare them to navigate uncertainty, create value and contribute meaningfully to society. Through his talk, Sandeep invites us to rethink one of the oldest assumptions about learning. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx Close description
