WATCH: Trump’s First Remarks Without the TV Pool
Description: Hear that? Neither do we.
On Monday, major news networks announced they would pause coverage of presidential events in response to President Donald Trump banning CNN, MS NOW, and Politico from the White House.
“The public has a vital interest in receiving accurate, independent information about its government. No administration should restrict a news organization because it objects to its reporting,” ABC, CBS, CNN, Fox News and NBC said in a joint statement of solidarity. Those five networks belong to the White House television press pool and rotate daily to provide reporting, video, and audio of the president’s daily events to share with other outlets around the world.
Later that day, the president held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a new White House helipad, during which the audio was indecipherable, leading a Newsmax reporter to speculate that the reason might be the absence of the usual television press pool.
Welp…“This is one example of it backfiring just a little bit,” the reporter said.
