We go through the whole kit first (four M6 bolts, washers and nuts, eight M8 bolts and washers, four M8 nuts, two cover caps, and the left and right mounting brackets), then assemble the brackets on the bench so you're not fighting them on the roof. From there it's onto the vehicle: foam tape under the factory roof rail so you don't touch the paint, twist and slide the bracket to the rear, then set it at exactly 15cm so the box sits around 10mm off the door panel and everything still opens properly.
Once the bracket is set, the box goes on with four M8 bolts and flat washers on top. Straighten it up, check your door clearance, and you're done. Keep in mind the bracket is built for the left hand side only, so this one goes on the left of the vehicle.
Last tip that saves you a headache down the track: run a bit of PPF tape under the magnets.
They've got a rubber protector, but vibration over time will eventually wear through your paint.
Tools you'll need: 5mm Allen key, 10mm spanner or socket, and a measuring tape.
