3 Days in the World's Highest City Without Laws! (Murder on Camera)
Description: I’m spending 72 hours in La Rinconada, the highest and one of the most lawless cities in the world, hidden deep in the Peruvian Andes.
At an altitude of over 5,100 meters (16,700 ft), there is only about 50% of the oxygen compared to sea level, making it extremely difficult to breathe and putting serious stress on the body. Many people here suffer from altitude sickness, and even simple tasks can feel exhausting.
La Rinconada exists almost entirely because of gold mining, but with very little government presence or law enforcement, the city is known for its harsh living conditions, danger, and unpredictability. There is almost no proper infrastructure, with limited access to clean water, poor sanitation, and freezing temperatures year-round.
Because of the risks, I had to hire four police officers to protect me while filming.
This is going to be one of the most intense experiences I have ever had.
