Fort Vancouver students walkout after allegations of sexual misconduct in a locker room
Description: Students at Fort Vancouver High School say they feel anxious and frustrated about unanswered questions following serious allegations in the school’s locker room.
This comes as the Vancouver Police Department confirms they are investigating possible sexual contact between students in a locker room at Fort Vancouver High school. A spokesperson for the department says they were contacted by the high school's security personnel about the matter on Oct. 12.
School leaders say they learned of the allegations last week, reported them to law enforcement and began both an internal process and safety measures to protect those who made reports.
Principal Luis A. Castro-Quintanilla told families, in a letter, “Last week, we became aware of serious allegations of inappropriate behavior involving members of our varsity football team. We immediately reported these concerns to law enforcement, began our own internal investigation and put safety measures in place to protect those who reported the incident.”
