We Tried to Sell our Own Fish

Description: Two years ago we started the incredibly difficult journey of trying to sell our own catch off our own rod & reel boats. It seems like a simple concept right? We sell our catch direct to consumers instead of to our usual on the water buyers. We get a better price, and customers get a fresher product. Well, turns out pulling something like that off is dang near impossible to execute profitably and efficiently. However I am happy to say two years later we have all the permitting, infrastructure, workflow, and staff to be able to pull this off in a very limited capacity. It might not work perfect, but it appears to work. And a big part of that is thanks to our homies in Brooklyn, New York. Last year we started selling our black sea bass to Vinny Milburn who runs Greenpoint Fish & Lobster in Brooklyn, a vertically integrated wholesaler, retailer, and restaurant. And today we get a chance to get an inside look of what their operation looks like starting from our boats and ending in their warehouse!
