Sagarmanthan 2026 LIVE: Can Maritime Infrastructure Survive Climate Change? | ORF x Firstpost
Description: Rising sea levels, extreme weather events and shifting ocean conditions are putting ports, shipping networks and coastal infrastructure under growing pressure. As climate risks intensify, future-proofing maritime infrastructure is becoming critical to protecting global trade, strengthening supply chains and ensuring the resilience of coastal economies. How can countries adapt their maritime networks to a rapidly changing climate?
At Sagarmanthan 2026, Mohamed Abdelsameaa, Director, General Administration for Climate Change Risk Studies, IDSC, Egypt; Alexandra Leeper, CEO, Iceland Ocean Cluster and Board Member of Danish Ocean Cluster, Iceland; and Ricardo Sanchez, Co-Chair, Kühne Professorial Chair of Logistics, Universidad de los Andes, Colombia, examine the challenges climate change poses to maritime infrastructure. The discussion explores strategies to strengthen port resilience, adapt logistics networks and build sustainable maritime systems capable of withstanding future climate shocks.
Hosted by ORF x Firstpost in New Delhi, Sagarmanthan 2026 brings together 1,200+ speakers, delegates and participants from nearly 75 countries to examine the future of oceans, maritime security, connectivity, technology, trade and cooperation.
