Description: Democrats are on track to make gains in the November midterm elections, but they’re benefiting from President Trump’s unpopularity—not their own party’s image. In fact, Democrats have received some of their lowest approval ratings ever since Trump took office last year.
Democratic voters are divided over what they believe their party should stand for and who is best equipped to beat Republicans. The party’s far-left flank has been ascendent with members of the Democratic Socialists of America and other progressives toppling longtime incumbents in some party primaries. For the first time ever, several highly competitive Senate and House seats will have far-left candidates as the Democratic nominees—a test of progressive power in competitive races.
We asked a group of Democratic voters from across the country to join us to talk about the party at this moment. Watch the video to learn more.
In the coming weeks we will have a video discussion with young men who voted for Trump in 2024. A year ago we spoke to a group of them to get their read on Trump’s first six months in office. We brought them back together to see how they feel about the administration now.
