Description: In this video I will show you the proper way to freeze cheeses so that you can store them for a long time. Now, not all cheeses can be frozen! So, watch this video to learn which cheeses can be frozen and which cheeses shouldn't be.
The basic rules for freezing cheese are
1. The least amount of moisture in the cheese, the better it will freeze. So, hard cheeses will freeze much better than soft (high-moisture) cheeses .
2. Freeze your cheeses in smaller piece or slices so that they thaw out faster. A big, thick, piece of cheese will take a very long time to thaw out.
The best way to freeze cheese is:
1. In smaller pieces in a vacuum sealed bag.
2. In its own sealed package (as long as it's not too big of a piece).
3. Wrapped in plastic wrap and put in a sandwich or Ziploc bag.
You can store cheese in the freezer for a long time. Basically, until you start to see freezer burn on your cheese. And even at that point it hasn't spoiled, it just has started to dry out. So, you may still be able to pull it out when it starts to do this, thaw it out, and still have an enjoyable piece of cheese.
