The “And Then” Mindset | Funmi Oluwajana | TEDxNorthern Quarter
Description: Uncertainty can make the brain treat a difficult moment as the end of the story.
This talk explores catastrophising, psychology and resilience, introducing the “And Then” mindset as a way to interrupt premature conclusions, reclaim agency and stay open to what happens next. Funmi is a Consultant in Restorative Dentistry, women’s health and fitness coach, and professional bodybuilder who works at the intersection of science, performance, and human behaviour.
Her work explores how strength, resilience, and identity are built under pressure.
Specialising in head and neck cancer rehabilitation, while coaching women toward sustainable health and performance, and pushing her own body and mind to extreme limits as an athlete, Funmi operates in environments that demand discipline, adaptability, and long-term thinking.
Drawing on both clinical practice and elite sport, her work challenges cultural ideals of balance, comfort, and external validation, inviting people to reclaim strength as something internal, earned, and deeply human. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx Close description
