US Strikes Panama-Flagged Cargo Vessel in Gulf of Oman Amid Iran Blockade

Description: The US military has disabled a commercial cargo vessel in the Gulf of Oman after it allegedly ignored warnings and attempted to bypass Washington's naval blockade against Iran, according to US Central Command (CENTCOM). A US fighter jet struck the stern of the Panama-flagged vessel, identified as M/V Ocean Molica, also known as Arika Sun, disabling its propulsion without injuring the crew, CENTCOM said. The US command stated that four commercial vessels had been disabled and 135 ships turned back during enforcement operations. Separately, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed that a supertanker struck a naval mine and exploded while attempting to leave the Strait of Hormuz via an unauthorised route. The developments add to escalating tensions around key regional shipping routes.
