American Cowboys Help Israeli Soldiers Heal from War Trauma at Biblical Ranch | Jerusalem Dateline

Description: American cowboys, Israeli soldiers, and a remarkable horse ranch in the Judean Hills are coming together to bring hope and healing after the trauma of war.

Just east of Jerusalem, near the ancient road associated with Jesus' parable of the Good Samaritan, Ruthy's Farm is transforming lives through horses, faith, and friendship.

Founded by Israeli rancher Ruthy Mann, the farm serves more than 350 children facing trauma and has become a refuge for IDF soldiers struggling with the emotional wounds of war following the October 7th Hamas attacks.

In this special Jerusalem Dateline report, CBN News correspondent Joshua Swanson visits the ranch and hears powerful testimonies from Israeli soldiers who say working with horses has helped them overcome nightmares, panic attacks, and the psychological scars of military service.

"This place is medicine for us," says one Israeli soldier.

But the healing doesn't stop with the horses.

When war broke out in Israel, American Christian cowboys answered the call to help. Organized through Joshua Waller of The Israel Guys, volunteers left their ranches and farms in the United States and traveled to Israel to serve communities in need.

Among them was cowboy Charlie Hutslar, who helped build a special resilience center for Israeli soldiers using stones gathered from the surrounding Judean Hills.

For Ruthy and her husband, Chaim Mann, the location carries profound biblical meaning. They believe their ranch sits near the route associated with the Good Samaritan, where Jesus taught about compassion, mercy, and caring for the wounded.

More than 2,000 years later, that same message of love and compassion is being lived out as Christians and Jews work together to help Israel recover from war.

IN THIS STORY:
• Ruthy Mann shares her dream of building a healing horse ranch in Israel.
• IDF soldiers describe their struggles with postwar trauma and their recovery through horses.
• American Christian cowboys explain why they traveled to Israel during wartime.
• Joshua Waller of The Israel Guys discusses the mission to support Israeli communities.
• Chaim Mann shares the ranch's remarkable connection to the biblical Good Samaritan.
