From which O? | Prerna Butani | TEDxKharadi
Description: We've spent decades obsessing over Stimulus and Response. As if the human in between is simply a relay.
My dissertation asked: what happens inside the O? The organism. Because the same campaign, the same message — one person is moved, another is not. The difference is interiority.
Now turn this toward the builder.
Every system you build carries the unresolved tension of the interior that designed it. Builders split — strategy from self, system from psyche. The demand engine becomes a defence.
The blind spots in your system are the blind spots in you.
You don't just build systems. You are one. Over sixteen years at the Godrej Group, I have built systems—people systems in HR, distribution in sales, and recently, digital demand systems driving ~40% CAGR for growth-stage brands. Today, Godrej Properties leads the sector in performance marketing scale, leveraging AI and agentic workflows to earn global case studies from Meta and Google, alongside eight years of industry awards including EFFIEs and 40 Under 40 honors.
My foundation—a Gold Medal from Mumbai University, distinctions from XLRI and IIMC, and an MSc in Consumer Psychology from UCL—anchors my approach. Yet, beneath these professional milestones lies a two-decade rigorous study of psychoanalytic theory, Buddhist philosophy, and behavioral process work.
In both business and the mind, I seek to answer one question: What actually moves a human being? The inner world is a system as real and structured as any I have built professionally. I am the enquirer sitting at the intersection of both these worlds. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
