‘Helpless in Major Decisions’: Jaishankar Demands UNSC Reform During Ethiopia Visit | FP Video

Description: Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has called for reform of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), warning that the UN risks sliding into irrelevance if it remains unable to address major global challenges. During his visit to Ethiopia, Jaishankar called on Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and addressed a gathering at the Adwa Memorial Museum in Addis Ababa, highlighting the historic partnership between India and Africa. Jaishankar emphasised the need for greater fairness and representation in global institutions, recalling Prime Minister Narendra Modi's ten guiding principles for India-Africa engagement, outlined in Kampala in 2018. He also invoked Mahatma Gandhi's legacy and reiterated that Africa remains among India's highest priorities. Ethiopia is the final leg of Jaishankar's three-nation African tour, which began in Ghana on October 6 and also included a visit to Côte d'Ivoire. Watch this video as Firstpost brings you Jaishankar's key remarks on UNSC reform, India-Africa relations and the need for a more representative global order.
