And today's stream is decided because I made a slight mistake...
I accidentally ordered WAY too many potatoes. 🥔📦
A while ago, I ordered a huge box of potatoes through Furusato Nozei, Japan's hometown tax donation system... and then completely forgot about it.
Well, the potatoes have arrived. And there are A LOT of them.
So naturally, there's only one thing to do: start cooking!
Today we're going to turn my ridiculous potato supply into TWO different dishes!
First, we're making Shepherd's Pie! 🥧
We'll make a rich, savory meat and vegetable filling, cover it with a big layer of creamy mashed potatoes, and bake everything together until golden and delicious. It's warm, comforting, and perfect for this cooler weather!
Then we're going to make something completely different with our potatoes: Japanese potato mochi, or Imo Mochi! 🇯🇵🥔
We'll mash the potatoes, mix them with potato starch, shape them into little cakes and pan-fry them until they're golden on the outside and soft and chewy inside!
I also took yesterday off from streaming because I was feeling really sick, so today I'm taking things a little easier and having a relaxed day at home. I'm feeling well enough to be back, and a cozy cooking stream sounds perfect! 💖
