Description: How do you spend one perfect day in the Lower East Side of New York City? In this complete Lower East Side NYC itinerary, I’m exploring one of Manhattan’s most authentic neighborhoods—packed with immigrant history, legendary New York food, century-old businesses, hidden streets, colorful markets, and unforgettable local character. This is the side of New York City that many visitors miss. We’ll start the morning with a classic New York bagel and hand-sliced smoked salmon at Russ & Daughters Café before stepping inside the preserved immigrant apartments of the Tenement Museum—one of the most powerful and unique museums in NYC.
From there, we’ll visit the stunning Museum at Eldridge Street, explore the busy markets and historic streets of Chinatown, see the giant golden Buddha at the Mahayana Buddhist Temple, and experience the neighborhood atmosphere around Mott Street, Doyers Street, and Columbus Park. For lunch, I’ll take you inside Nom Wah Tea Parlor, one of New York City’s oldest dim sum restaurants. We’ll also visit legendary Lower East Side shops like Economy Candy and the original Russ & Daughters before stopping at Sara D. Roosevelt Park to experience a more local side of Manhattan. Later, we’ll walk part of the Williamsburg Bridge for incredible views of the East River and Manhattan skyline, explore the famous streets of Little Italy, and finish the day with Rubirosa’s iconic tie-dye pizza.
