It Collapsed! Wheel Bearing Disaster & Front Structure Rebuild - Subarancho Body Swap Rebuild
Description: The SubaRancho is finally starting to look like a complete car… but there are still some BIG problems to solve.
In this episode of the SubaRancho build, we start testing the front wings to work out exactly how the Rancho body is going to fit around the Subaru Impreza WRX underneath it. With the Subaru front end being longer and wider than the original Rancho, we need to fabricate the front structure and work out how we're going to make the wings fit properly.
We also get the seats back in the car for the first proper test fit, which means we can finally start working out the seat belt mounting points and how we're going to safely mount the belts into this completely custom vehicle.
And just when we thought the running gear was coming together, we discover a collapsed wheel bearing that needs rebuilding before we can go any further.
This project is becoming more complicated with every episode, but for the first time we're starting to see exactly what the finished SubaRancho could look like.
The SubaRancho is a completely custom classic car body swap, combining a Talbot Matra Rancho owned by Jonny Smith from The Late Brake Show with a Subaru Impreza WRX chassis, running gear and drivetrain.
We've cut two completely different cars apart and are trying to turn them into one road-legal car — and we're getting closer every episode.
