Canada Post to end door-to-door mail in 39,000 homes

Description: Canada Post is preparing to end door-to-door mail delivery for approximately 39,000 Ottawa homes by late 2027 as concrete pads for community mailboxes are installed across the east end. CTV's Kimberley Johnson speaks with Beacon Hill resident Bernard Racine, who worries that walking to a community box during winter will pose severe physical challenges for seniors dealing with health issues. Starting in July 2027, postal codes beginning with K1B, K1G, K1H, K1J and K1K will switch to centralized boxes, followed by K1E, K1C and K1W postal zones in August. The Crown corporation stated the transition will help modernize postal infrastructure and reduce operational deficits, with the remaining two-thirds of local door-to-door addresses scheduled to shift by 2030.
