Trump Attacks Somali Americans in Minnesota: Can Racism Help Trump Avoid Midterm Defeat? | Vantage
Description: US President Donald Trump is resorting to racism to energise his supporters ahead of the November 3 midterm elections. Trump's approval ratings are at record lows, and his Republican Party is expected to face a rout in the midterms. Firstpost looks at the racist rhetoric Trump has started spewing in his bid to improve his party's poll prospects. Hem Kaur Saroya examines Trump's rants against Somali-Americans and Somali people in general. HKS also looks at what Trump is saying about Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed.
India’s bid to host the 2036 Olympics has sparked racist memes and AI-generated images, raising questions about outdated stereotypes, infrastructure and the country’s sporting ambitions. Meanwhile, controversy over India’s voter roll revision is intensifying, with opposition allegations of voter deletions prompting protests against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The Supreme Court has also questioned restrictions imposed in Delhi ahead of a planned demonstration, citing concerns for commuters. Hem Saroya examines both developments on Vantage on Firstpost.
